Beautiful Bedrooms 1 – Fresh And Modern

September 3, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Beautiful bedrooms – who wouldn’t want one of those?! If you could give your bedroom a rating between 1 and 10 – anything below 7 and you better jump into our new series to get some inspiration. Up from a score of 7 and you probably have the basic outline of your design, but need some finishing touches to perk it up. In other words, I think that everyone could gain from what we have in store for you!

Starting with fresh and modern bedrooms that are perfect to relax in at the end of a long day – easy on the eye and contemporary styles to make your knees wobble! We have a few ideas that we hope will inspire you to redecorate and have a beautiful bedroom to claim as your own; if the contemporary style is not your ‘thing’, check back with us for pretty cottage looks, laid back beach décor and more.

  • A fresh and modern bedroom might start with freshly painted white walls and light to medium wood floorboards. Lots of light flooding in during the day with lightweight voile curtains in crisp white hung from curtain tracks rather than curtain poles; choose classic bedding in white too, with different textures to add detail.
  • If white is too clinical, choose creams with warmer shades of caramel for bedding; a pop of blue will add colour whilst remaining fresh and modern. When choosing a bed frame, look for modern shapes - clean solid lines are good. Fabric headboards are popular again, but to stay within modern design remember that the curvy shapes of some fabric headboards give more of a period feel.
  • What could be more modern for bedrooms than a monochrome black and white scheme? Depending on the size and the amount of natural light available, you could use as much black as white without stepping over the line into Gothic. With a smaller bedroom, you might want to add black in with a black duvet cover and in accessories, keeping the rest of the room white with light coloured floors. White or black Roman blinds are perfect for dressing up the windows of a modern bedroom – or be brave and choose bright coloured roller blinds for an element of surprise.
  • Fresh, modern and smart? Navy with white is beautiful for the bedroom. The colours give contrast but it isn’t as stark as black and white – offering a more simple and laid-back look. Navy could be added to the wall behind the bed and in bedding details. Look for bedding sets with fine embroidery using navy on white and carry it through with matching pillow cases and bedside lampshades.
