Luxury Living Room Ideas 3 – Luxury For Less

August 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

When we speak of luxury living room ideas, it doesn’t mean that you are going to have to take out a loan to have the desired results. It is time to rethink what luxury really means and understand that it doesn’t always come at an extortionate cost. First, think about what makes you feel special, what you would love to see in your living room and how you can optimize comfort. Then, read our suggestions for having luxury for less. You will be so pleased with the results and pleasantly surprised at how little it cost – you could even have something left over to treat another room in the house!

  • A good start would be to choose one luxury item that will become the focal point in your living room. This could be anything from a piece of original artwork to display on a feature wall to a stylish coffee table at the centre of the room. On entering the lounge, your eyes and those of your guests will be drawn to this décor piece first. The trick to having luxury for less is to spend a tad more on your focal piece and save on the rest of your décor – it won’t matter because your focal point will lift the entire room’s appeal and make it look like it cost more than it actually did!
  • Another suggestion we have to share with you is the project of organising your living space and doing away with excess. All the pieces that don’t have a function in the room and don’t particularly add to the style can be sold on and the money you earn can go back into the room with a little luxury.
  • Sofas, armchairs and other furniture can be costly even when you don’t go for the highest of standards. An excellent idea if you want to change your existing furniture is to give them a makeover rather than buying new. This way, the money you save can be spent on the most deluxe fabric or paint – instantly giving your furniture a rich look. Reupholster your old sofa in velvet or make silk cushion covers. Choose a satin finish paint to update wood furniture, doors and skirts for a soft glossy appearance.
  • When choosing window treatments, curtain poles are a very cheap option for hanging up curtains – which means you can spend a little extra on a more impressive set of drapes! We love most fabrics when they fall plush to the floor – although silk and taffeta are exceptionally beautiful for the lounge made into chic Roman blinds to compliment curtains.
